International Mountain Explorers Connection (formerly Himalayan Explorers Connection)
The International Mountain Explorers Connection promotes responsible and sustainable connections between travellers and the people of developing mountain regions of the world.

International Porter Protection Group
This organisation was set up in response to the way Nepalese porters were being treated. It is staffed by volunteers and carries out awareness and fundraising activities to run practical projects on the ground.

Tourism Concern
Tourism Concern is a UK-based membership organization campaigning for ethical and fairly traded tourism.  It campaigns to encourage UK trekking operators to commit to guidelines which protect porters and provide fair pay.

HimalAndes Initiative
The HimalAndes Initiative aims to promote co-operation between the Andean and Himalayan people and organisations. It brings together programmes and projects that emphasize the potential for scientific, technological, cultural and commercial co-operation. This initiative focuses on the exchange of experiences and resources between both regions in order to promote conservation and sustainable development, especially in rural areas.

IMAPI
A Peruvian non-profit association dedicated to the conservation of natural and cultural resources in the Machu Picchu Sanctuary and Cusco region.

The Mountain Forum
The Mountain Forum was established in 1995 by non-government organisations, universities, governments, multilateral agencies and the private sector. The Mountain Forum promotes global action towards equitable and ecologically sustainable mountain development.

The Mountain Institute
The Mountain Institute focuses its work in the world's most remote mountain areas including the highest, longest and oldest mountain ranges on the planet.  The Mountain Institute links mountain areas through global initiatives and provides active field programmes in mountain ranges on three continents: the Andes, the Himalayas and the Appalachians.

Peru Support Group
A UK-based non-profit membership organisation funded by development charities in the UK to provide information about Peru – its politics, social situation, human rights and women’s issues. The Peru Support Group was established in 1983 as an independent organisation without any party or political affiliation. It aims to support the people of Peru, particularly those from the poorest sectors.

Porters' Progress
This Nepalese charity is improving working conditions for Nepalese porters through advocacy, education and empowerment. Its staff work to facilitate ideas generated by porters.

South American Explorers Club
This organisation was established in the 1970s. It provides members with information on anything from hotels and hostels and river-rafting trips to alternative trekking routes.
